Job Summary
The Indirect Tax Guidance Specialist supports the preparation and maintenance of internal VAT/excise guidance to ensure consistent application of indirect tax laws across the customer. The role assists in drafting internal opinions, procedural documents, and templates, and contributes to the standardization of practices across examination, assessment, collection, and enforcement functions. It coordinates with Tax Policy & Legislation, Legal Affairs, Tax Disputes, and Information Systems & Digital Transformation to align procedures, supports awareness and training initiatives, and helps improve internal efficiency and institutional consistency.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Technical Support & Interpretation
- Reviews internal queries on VAT/excise interpretation and prepares technical notes and summaries for recurring procedural cases.
- Coordinates with relevant departments, including Tax Policy, Legal Affairs, and Tax Disputes, to ensure consistent interpretation and resolution of technical issues.
Consistency & Standardization
- Contributes to measures that ensure uniform interpretation and application of indirect tax laws across operational departments.
- Assists in drafting internal opinions and supporting documentation to clarify roles, responsibilities, and processes.
Templates, Procedures & Knowledge Management
- Prepares and maintains standardized templates, workflows, and internal procedure documents in line with approved formats.
- Coordinates with Information Systems & Digital Transformation to ensure systems, forms, and workflows align with approved guidance.
Regulatory Monitoring & Implementation
- Monitors legislative and administrative changes and assists in analyzing their impact on internal procedures.
- Prepares summaries, FAQs, and briefings to support smooth adoption of new policies and procedural changes.
Training, Reporting & Improvement
- Assists in developing and delivering training materials and awareness sessions on internal technical guidance.
- Tracks internal guidance activity and recurring queries, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and procedural consistency.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
| Preferred qualifications | ● Bachelor’s degree in Law, Taxation, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. ● Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CTA, ACCA, CPA) is an advantage. |
| Preferred experience | ● 9+ years’ experience in indirect tax technical support, rulings, or guidance within government or public-sector organizations. ● Strong understanding of indirect tax laws, internal procedures, and cross-departmental coordination in tax administration. |
